Carbon Neutral Operations
Futuro is proudly certified Carbon Neutral by Climate Active. We have done this by reducing our carbon emissions as much as possible, and then investing in projects that reduce or remove emissions from the atmosphere. Overall our emissions equal net zero.
Futuro carefully considered its carbon investment projects, selecting:
- the Orana Natural Capital Project; and
- the Wind Power Project by the Mytrah Group.
The Orana Natural Capital Project is an exemplar of integrated regenerative farming, threatened species recovery and multi-scaled terrestrial and aquatic biolinks.
The Wind Power Project converts wind energy into electrical energy across a number of wind farms in India that have a combined capacity of 493.5MW. In addition to these environmental benefits, the producer runs a wide range of initiatives that support the wellbeing of local communities. These initiatives include improved access to education and clean water, and programs to reduce unemployment. Mytrah also partners with UNICEF to run community camps that educate young women.
Climate Active is a partnership between the Australian Government and Australian businesses to drive voluntary climate action. Climate Active certification is awarded to businesses and organisations that have achieved a state of zero emissions (cabon neutrality). For more information, visit their website.
Sustainable supply chain
Futuro is sourcing vendors that offer sustainable options with respect to furniture, equipment and consumables. This includes:
- Reusable, compostable, biodegradable or recyclable packaging and plastic products
- FSC-certified timber products
- Vendors that can demonstrate compliance with Ethical Sourcing and Anti-Slavery Policies
- Biodegradable eco-plastic toys
- Cleaning products that are biodegradable and made from renewal plant resources
Powershop
In addition to centre designs that help reduce energy consumption, and the use of solar panels, we have partnered with Powershop to supply energy to the centre from grid. Everything we do is for your child's future and that includes incorporating sustainability into all aspects of our centre and its operations where possible. This includes a focus on carbon neutrality and considered design that makes the most of our natural resources.
